This impressive five-ounce silver coin represents a striking tribute to one of North America's most spectacular wilderness areas. Released in 2012 as the fifth design of that year's America the Beautiful series, the coin is struck from 0.999 fine silver. It has been certified in outstanding Mint State 69 Proof-Like condition, offering collectors a highly detailed and reflective specimen of modern coinage. The reverse side of the coin captures the rugged spirit of the Alaskan wild, depicting a Dall sheep standing before the immense backdrop of Mount McKinley. Known also as Denali, this peak stands as the continent's tallest mountain, reaching an elevation of 20,320 feet. The design is framed by the inscriptions "DENALI", "ALASKA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the 2012 year of issue. This celebrated sanctuary was first designated as a national site in 1917, later expanding in 1980 to encompass more than six million acres of protected land. On the obverse, the coin displays the familiar portrait of George Washington. Surrounding the presidential bust are the traditional inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the face value of "QUARTER DOLLAR". Although minted at the Philadelphia facility, this five-ounce quarter does not display a mint mark, maintaining a clean and classic appearance.
