This impressive five-ounce silver coin represents the fourth design issued in the 2012 America the Beautiful series. Struck in 0.999 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular piece features a burnished finish and has been graded in outstanding Specimen 69 condition. The coin's substantial size provides an expansive canvas for showcasing one of the most dramatic natural landscapes in the United States. The reverse design captures the raw power of the Hawaiian landscape, illustrating an active eruption along the eastern rift zone of Kilauea volcano. This imagery celebrates a protected area originally established in 1916 as Hawaii National Park, which serves to safeguard the volcanic environments of both Kilauea and Mauna Loa. Inscriptions surrounding the volcanic scene include "HAWAI'I VOLCANOES", "HAWAII", "2012", and the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". On the obverse, the coin displays the familiar portrait of George Washington. This side carries the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the face value of "QUARTER DOLLAR". The "P" mint mark is also visible, denoting its origin from the Philadelphia minting facility.
