2014-S Baseball HOF 1/2 Dollar Clad Commem Proof (w/Box & COA)
In 2014, the United States Mint celebrated the seventy-fifth anniversary of the National Baseball Hall of Fame with a remarkably distinctive commemorative coin. This clad half dollar, produced at the San Francisco Mint, features a proof finish that highlights its unusual, highly sculpted shape. The obverse of the coin displays a deeply cupped, open baseball glove. This concave surface creates a realistic sense of depth, cradling the inscriptions of liberty, the national motto, and the year of issue. On the convex reverse, the coin mimics the rounded shape of a baseball, complete with detailed stitching. The curved surface accentuates the texture of the ball, which is accompanied by the inscriptions denoting the country, the traditional Latin motto, and the face value of fifty cents. The San Francisco 'S' mint mark is also clearly visible on this side, marking its origin of manufacture.
