2015-D ATB Quarter Saratoga National Historical Park BU
Struck at the Denver Mint, this 2015 copper-nickel clad quarter represents a crucial moment in the struggle for American independence. Part of the America the Beautiful series, the coin honors Saratoga National Historical Park in New York, a site marking a major shift in the fortunes of the Revolutionary War. The reverse side of the coin illustrates the historic surrender ceremony of 1777, showing the moment British General John Burgoyne yields his sword to American General Horatio Gates. This capitulation is widely regarded as the decisive turning point of the entire conflict. This side also bears the inscriptions SARATOGA, NEW YORK, BRITISH SURRENDER 1777, the year 2015, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the obverse, the familiar portrait of George Washington is accompanied by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR. A small D mint mark indicates its origin in Denver, and the coin remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of this historic scene.
