2015-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)
The 2015-D Lincoln Cent represents a fascinating chapter in modern American coinage, showcasing a blend of historic tradition and contemporary symbolism. Struck at the Denver Mint, this brilliant uncirculated coin features a vibrant red luster. Though commonly referred to as a copper cent, the coin's composition is actually a precise metallurgical blend of 99.2 percent zinc coated with 0.8 percent copper, ensuring both durability and a classic warm appearance. On the obverse, the coin displays the iconic right-facing bust of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. This side bears the familiar, deeply rooted inscriptions of American currency, including the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" curved along the top, "LIBERTY" to the left of the portrait, and the date "2015" paired with the "D" mint mark below it. The reverse side features the Union shield, a design by Lyndall Bass that has been minted continuously from 2010 to the present day. The shield represents national unity and strength, bearing thirteen vertical stripes with a solid horizontal bar across the top. The inscriptions on this side include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arching over the shield, the traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" nestled within the header of the shield, and the denomination "ONE CENT" boldly displayed across the scroll.
