The park itself, commemorating this feat, became part of the National Park Service in 1966. On the reverse side, designed by Frank Morris and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, the coin depicts Clark guiding his men through treacherous, waterlogged plains as they advance toward the fort. The inscriptions on this side include "GEORGE ROGERS CLARK," "INDIANA," "2017," and the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The obverse features the familiar portrait of George Washington, originally created by John Flanagan.
