2018 AUS 1 oz Silver Bird of Paradise Victoria’s Riflebird BU

1.0000 troy oz .9999 2018 Brilliant Unc

In 2018, the Perth Mint released a striking silver coin celebrating the Victoria's Riflebird, a remarkable species native to northeastern Australia. This bird was first documented in 1848 by the naturalist John Macgillivray and received its name in honor of Queen Victoria. Struck under the authority of the Australian Currency Act 1965, this legal tender coin contains one troy ounce of highly pure 0.9999 fine silver, with a strict production limit of 50,000 pieces. The reverse side of the coin showcases the bird in a dramatic display pose, perched upon a tree branch with its beak parted and its wings fully spread. This side also bears the words 'AUSTRALIAN BIRD OF PARADISE' alongside the traditional 'P' mint mark of the Perth Mint. On the obverse, the coin displays the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the inscriptions indicating the year 2018 and the face value of 1 Dollar.
