2023-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)
The 2023 Lincoln cent struck at the Denver Mint showcases a vibrant red luster in its brilliant uncirculated state. This modern issue continues a long-running American tradition, minted with a composition of 99.2 percent zinc and a thin outer layer of 0.8 percent copper. The obverse features the iconic right-facing profile of Abraham Lincoln, a design created by Victor David Brenner. Legible inscriptions on this face include the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, the year 2023, and the D mint mark indicating its origin in Denver. On the reverse, the coin displays the Union shield design by Lyndall Bass, which has been minted continuously from 2010 to the present day. This side bears the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE CENT.
