2024-D Lincoln Cent BU (Red)
The 2024 Lincoln cent struck at the Denver Mint represents a continuation of one of the most enduring coin designs in American history. This brilliant uncirculated coin features a bright red copper finish, though its modern composition actually consists of 99.2 percent zinc coated with a thin layer of 0.8 percent copper. The Denver origin is clearly marked by the letter D beneath the date on the obverse side. On the obverse, the right-facing profile of Abraham Lincoln remains the central focus, accompanied by the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. This side of the coin honors the historic design originally created by Victor David Brenner. The reverse side displays the Union shield, a design by Lyndall Bass that has been minted continuously from 2010 to present. The shield represents national unity and strength, bearing the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM across the top scroll. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE CENT frame this central emblem, completing a design that bridges historic portraiture with modern symbolism.
