Macedon AR Tetradrachm Alex. III, Lifetime (c.336-323 BC) VG NGC
Crafted during the monumental reign of Alexander III of Macedon, this ancient silver tetradrachm offers a direct connection to the classical world. Minted between 336 and 323 BC, this lifetime issue represents one of the most famous coin designs of antiquity, circulating at the height of Alexander the Great's historic campaigns. The obverse of the coin showcases the profile of Heracles facing right, draped in his characteristic lion skin headpiece. This powerful imagery of the mythological hero was a signature motif of the Macedonian kingdom, symbolizing strength and divine lineage. On the reverse, the design depicts the god Zeus seated on his throne, facing left. In his hands, he holds a scepter and an eagle, traditional symbols of his supreme authority. To the right of the deity, the Greek inscription ALEXANDROY is clearly visible, marking the coin under the authority of the legendary ruler. This specific piece has survived more than two millennia and is certified in Very Good condition.
