Dating back more than 2,300 years, this gold stater originates from the ancient Kingdom of Macedon during the lifetime of King Alexander III, who ruled from 336 to 323 BC. Weighing approximately 8.6 grams, this ancient coin contains about 0.2760 troy ounces of gold and has been certified in Choice Extra Fine condition. The obverse of this stater showcases the detailed profile of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war, facing right. She is depicted wearing a crested Corinthian helmet, which is adorned with the distinct image of a coiled serpent. On the reverse, the goddess of victory, Nike, stands facing left while holding a laurel wreath and a stylus.
