1799 Draped Bust Dollar XF-45 NGC (BB-164, B-17)

0.7731 troy oz 1799 Extra Fine - 45 (NGC)

In the final year of the eighteenth century, the young United States Mint in Philadelphia produced this silver dollar. Representing the formative years of American coinage, the piece features the celebrated Draped Bust design on its obverse, a classic motif that captured the spirit of the nascent republic. Because the Philadelphia Mint did not use mintmarks during this era, the coin carries no mark to indicate its origin, which was standard practice for the facility at the time. This specific coin has survived more than two centuries and is graded Extra Fine 45. It contains 0.7731 troy ounces of silver, showcasing the substantial weight and presence of early federal currency. The reverse displays the heraldic eagle design, accompanied by the traditional national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, celebrating the unity of the early states.
