0.0000 troy oz 1812 Good

The year 1812 marked a turbulent era in American history, and this copper one cent coin offers a direct connection to that period. As part of the Classic Head series, which was produced only from 1808 to 1814, this coin represents a short lived design chapter in early United States coinage. Strikingly larger than the pennies we use today, these copper pieces were essential to daily commerce in the young republic. On the obverse, the coin displays the effigy of Liberty facing right, her hair bound by a band. This central figure is encircled by thirteen stars, representing the original colonies, with the date 1812 positioned clearly at the bottom. The reverse features the denomination "ONE CENT" nested inside a continuous wreath, which is itself surrounded by the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
