The early years of United States coinage produced some of the most visually striking silver pieces in the nation's history. Among these is the initial variety of the Capped Bust quarter, minted between 1815 and 1828. This specific era of the quarter dollar is distinguished by its larger physical diameter compared to later issues in the series, offering a broader canvas for its detailed engravings. On the obverse, the profile of Lady Liberty faces right, her hair covered by a draped cap. She is encircled by stars, with the word LIBERTY inscribed above her.
