Struck in 0.8924 fine silver with a net metal content of 0.1934 troy ounces, this specific era of the Capped Bust series is known to researchers as Variety 2. It represents a technological and aesthetic transition, most notably marked by a reduced physical diameter compared to its predecessors. The obverse presents a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing her iconic cap, surrounded by a ring of stars. On the reverse, the design showcases an American eagle with a shield draped across its chest. The eagle clutches an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons, representing the dual themes of peace and readiness.
