The 1832 Capped Bust dime offers a fascinating window into early American coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this ten-cent piece is composed of 89.24 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0775 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Fine condition, it carries the distinct character of a coin that actively circulated during the early nineteenth century. Designed by John Reich, the obverse of the dime presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap, which is inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Thirteen stars encircle her image, representing the original colonies, with the year 1832 positioned directly below the bust. The reverse side displays a detailed eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, symbolizing a desire for peace alongside a readiness for defense. A shield is placed over the eagle's chest, and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed on a banner floating above. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination 10 C. encircle the central design, completing this historic piece of American currency.
