The 1834 Capped Bust half dollar represents a classic era of early United States coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this fifty-cent piece is composed of 89.24 percent silver, containing 0.3868 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular coin survives in Very Fine condition, displaying the distinct details of a design that circulated widely during the nineteenth century. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty appears wearing a soft cap. The word LIBERTY is inscribed across her band, and the year 1834 is positioned below the portrait. This variety is noted for its Large Date and Large Letters, which present a bolder visual profile than other die marriages of the same year. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, with a shield draped across its chest. Above the eagle, a scroll displays the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
