1834 Capped Bust Quarter VF

0.1934 troy oz .8924 1834 Very Fine

The United States Mint in Philadelphia produced this silver quarter in 1834, offering a window into the early coinage of the republic. Struck in 0.8924 fine silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. This specimen survives in Very Fine condition, preserving the distinct details of its early nineteenth-century engraving. On the obverse, a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty wears a draped cap, her curls framed by a semi-circle of stars. The word LIBERTY is inscribed upon her headband, with the year 1834 positioned directly below the portrait. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with a patriotic shield across its chest. In its talons, the eagle grips both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual themes of peace and defense. Surrounding the central image are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination indicated as 25C.
