In 1835, the Philadelphia Mint produced this silver ten-cent piece, which represents the classic Capped Bust design era of early American coinage. Struck with a silver purity of 0.8924, this dime is a tangible survivor from the pre-1933 era of United States currency, originating from a total mintage of 485,000 pieces. The obverse side presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty, her hair flowing freely beneath a draped Phrygian cap. This central figure is framed by thirteen stars, which pay tribute to the original American colonies that formed the nation. The date 1835 is clearly positioned beneath the bust. On the reverse, a detailed eagle is depicted with a protective shield across its chest. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual national themes of peace and readiness. The denomination is indicated at the bottom as 10C, surrounded by the country of origin.
