1835 Capped Bust Dime VF

In 1835, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of 485,000 silver dimes, each containing 0.0775 troy ounces of 89.24 percent pure silver. This particular specimen survives in Very Fine condition, preserving the intricate details of a design created by John Reich. The front of the coin showcases a profile of Liberty facing left, wearing a traditional Phrygian cap with her tresses flowing downward. The word LIBERTY is inscribed upon her cap, while thirteen stars encircle the portrait to represent the original American colonies. The date 1835 is clearly struck at the bottom. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands with a shield draped across its chest. In its talons, the bird grasps an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing peace and readiness. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is displayed on a scroll above the eagle, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination indicated as 10C.
