1877-CC Liberty Seated Half Dollar AG

In 1877, the legendary Carson City Mint in Nevada struck a run of 1,420,000 silver half dollars. This fifty-cent piece, minted in 90% fine silver, contains approximately 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Having survived decades of circulation, this specimen is graded in Almost Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that actively passed through the hands of everyday Americans during the late nineteenth century. The obverse features Christian Gobrecht's classic design of Lady Liberty seated on a rock. In her hands, she supports a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her other hand rests upon a shield. The year 1877 is inscribed at the base. On the reverse, an American eagle is depicted with a shield across its chest, clutching three arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The mint mark "CC" is positioned below the eagle, identifying its origin from the famous frontier mint, alongside the denomination abbreviated as "HALF DOL."
