1891 Liberty Seated Half Dollar VG

0.3575 troy oz .900 1891 Very Good

The 1891 Liberty Seated half dollar represents the final chapter of a long-running era in United States coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this fifty-cent piece carries a design that defined American silver currency for over half a century. The obverse features Liberty in a seated position, holding a staff topped with a liberty cap in one hand while her other hand rests on a shield. Below this central figure, the date 1891 is clearly visible. On the reverse, an eagle is depicted with a shield across its chest, clutching three arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOL." frame this classic reverse motif.
