1891-O Liberty Seated Dime XF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1891 Extra Fine

This silver dime from 1891 represents the final year of a classic American design era. Minted in New Orleans, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Extra Fine condition, it displays the clear details of its 19th-century craftsmanship. The obverse of the coin features the figure of Liberty seated on a rock. In one hand, she holds a staff topped with a liberty cap, while her other hand rests upon a shield inscribed with the word LIBERTY. The year 1891 is struck below the figure, flanked by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA along the rim. On the reverse, a delicate wreath encircles the denomination, which is written simply as ONE DIME. The New Orleans mint mark, a small O, is positioned below the wreath, identifying its origin from the historic Southern mint facility.
