1916-S Barber Dime AU
The year 1916 marked the end of an era for United States coinage, representing the final production year for the classic Barber dime. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this silver piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular coin survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of its century-old artistry. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin features a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY clearly visible on her band. Surrounding her portrait are the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the 1916 date of minting. The reverse of the coin focuses on the denomination, displaying the words ONE DIME centered within a lush, detailed wreath. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located at the bottom of the design, indicating its origin at the historic West Coast facility.
