1925 Lexington Concord Sesquicentennial Half Dollar MS-64 NGC

0.3617 troy oz .900 1925 MS-64 (NGC)

In 1925, the United States commemorated the 150th anniversary of the opening battles of the American Revolutionary War with a special silver half dollar. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin honors the sesquicentennial of the historic events at Lexington and Concord, which took place in 1775. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse and reverse designs capture the spirit of the early American patriots. On one side, the design features the famous Minute Man statue, a symbol of local militia readiness, accompanied by the inscription PATRIOT HALF DOLLAR. The opposite side depicts the Old Belfry in Lexington, which sounded the alarm on that historic April morning. The coin also displays the dual dates of 1775 to 1925, marking a century and a half since the conflict, alongside the traditional national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM. This particular specimen has survived the decades in remarkable condition, graded Mint State 64 (MS-64). Out of a total mintage of 161,914 pieces, finding an example that retains such crisp details and original luster offers a direct connection to the early commemorative coin era of the United States.
