This silver half dollar, minted in 1925, commemorates the 150th anniversary of the historic events of 1775 that marked the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3617 troy ounces, this piece is preserved in a superb certified state of preservation, graded Mint State 65 (MS-65). The obverse of the coin displays a powerful depiction of the Concord Minuteman, a symbol of the ready-at-a-moment's-notice militia of the era. Surrounding this central figure are inscriptions reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and PATRIOT HALF DOLLAR, celebrating the spirit of the early defenders. On the reverse side, the design showcases the Old Belfry in Lexington, a structure that played a critical role in the conflict by sounding the alarm that summoned the local militia to action. The reverse is inscribed with OLD BELFRY, LEXINGTON and the dual dates of 1775 to 1925, linking the historic battle to its sesquicentennial celebration.
