In 1932, a new design emerged to honor the bicentennial of George Washington's birth. This silver quarter, struck at the Denver Mint, carries a heavy sense of history in its worn surfaces. Even in a heavily circulated Fair condition, the coin retains the unmistakable profile of the nation's first president on its obverse, a portrait created by sculptor John Flanagan. Turning the coin over reveals a bold heraldic eagle perched on the reverse. The majestic bird is depicted gripping a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above a symbolic olive branch. Minted from 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.1788 troy ounces, this inaugural year issue from the Denver facility represents the very beginning of a legendary United States coin series.
