1932-D Washington Quarter Fine

0.1788 troy oz .900 1932 Fine

The year 1932 marked the introduction of a new design for the United States twenty-five cent piece, honoring the bicentennial of George Washington's birth. This first-year issue from the Denver Mint is highly notable due to its remarkably low mintage of just 436,800 pieces, making it one of the most famous and sought-after entries in the entire Washington Quarter series. Struck in 90% silver, the coin contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse displays a left-facing portrait of the first United States president, George Washington, based on a design by John Flanagan. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned in the left field, with the date "1932" anchoring the bottom of the design. The reverse features a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons above two crossed olive branches. Above the eagle, the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is clearly visible, while the mint mark "D" is positioned below the olive branches, identifying this piece as a product of the Denver facility. This particular specimen is preserved in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining its key design elements.
