The year 1932 marked a significant shift in American coinage with the introduction of the Washington quarter, a series created to honor the bicentennial of George Washington's birth. This particular specimen, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents the very first year of this enduring design. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal and has survived in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original detail. On the obverse, the profile of George Washington faces left, accompanied by the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the inaugural date of 1932. This celebrated portrait was designed by sculptor John Flanagan. The reverse showcases a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings outspread, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Above the eagle, the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are displayed, while the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" and the "S" mint mark of the San Francisco facility are positioned below.
