In 1932, the United States introduced a new quarter dollar design to honor the bicentennial of George Washington's birth. This inaugural year of the Washington quarter series is highly regarded, especially the issues struck at the San Francisco Mint. Bearing the "S" mint mark, this particular coin survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving its original details and luster just as it looked when it left the minting facility. Sculptor John Flanagan designed the coin, featuring a left-facing portrait of the first United States President on the obverse. The word "LIBERTY" is positioned above the bust, with the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" placed to the left. Below Washington's portrait is the date of 1932. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. The eagle clutches a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above a pair of olive branches. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" frame the central design, while the traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is nestled directly above the eagle's head. Minted with a silver purity of 90 percent, this coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of pure silver and stands as a classic example of early twentieth-century American coinage.
