1932 Washington Quarter VF
In 1932, a new era of American pocket change began with the introduction of a circulating quarter dollar honoring the nation's first president. This inaugural issue, struck in 90% silver, represents the debut of a design that would become a staple of United States coinage for decades. Having circulated through commerce, this specimen survives in Very Fine condition, showing the honest wear of its journey while preserving the core details of its historic imagery. The obverse of the coin displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, a portrait created by sculptor John Flanagan. Surrounding the presidential bust are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the landmark year of 1932. This face of the coin established an iconic image that remains recognizable to generations of Americans. On the reverse, Flanagan composed a powerful heraldic scene. A spread-winged eagle stands at the center, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons above a pair of olive branches, representing both strength and peace. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the eagle, while the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is nestled just above the bird's head. Containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of pure silver, this Philadelphia-minted coin stands as a tangible survivor from the very beginning of the Washington Quarter series.
