In 1934, the Denver Mint produced a classic piece of American pocket change that has captured the interest of coin enthusiasts for decades. This twenty-five cent coin is struck in 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Fine condition, it shows the honest wear of a coin that circulated during a fascinating era of American history. The obverse of the quarter displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by sculptor John Flanagan. Above the portrait, the word LIBERTY is inscribed, while the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST sits to the left of Washington's neck. The year 1934 is clearly struck at the bottom of the coin. On the reverse, Flanagan's powerful heraldic eagle dominates the center. The eagle is depicted with outspread wings, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons above an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM frame the top of the design, while the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR is anchored at the bottom. A small D mint mark below the olive branch indicates its origin at the Denver Mint.
