In 1934, the United States Mint produced a striking silver quarter that remains a fascinating subject for study. This twenty-five cent piece, struck in Philadelphia, is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. It is classified as Brilliant Uncirculated, preserving the original luster and sharp details of the minting process from nearly a century ago. The obverse of the coin displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, the first President of the United States. This portrait, created by sculptor John Flanagan, is accompanied by the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date 1934. This particular variety is noted for its "Heavy Motto" presentation, where the letters of the motto are visibly thicker and more pronounced than on other issues of the same year. On the reverse, Flanagan's design features a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. The eagle grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above a pair of olive branches, symbolizing both strength and peace. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" encircle the central bird, completing a design that has become a cornerstone of American coinage.
