1935 Connecticut Tercentenary Half Dollar BU

0.3617 troy oz .900 1935 Brilliant Unc

Struck in 90 percent silver, this 1935 commemorative half dollar celebrates three centuries of Connecticut history. The coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal and displays a brilliant uncirculated finish, preserving the sharp details of its unique and artistic design. The obverse side of the coin features a detailed depiction of the historic Charter Oak. This representation was inspired by a painting created by Charles DeWolf Brownell, capturing the grand tree that holds a significant place in local lore. Legible inscriptions on this side include the words CONNECTICUT, CHARTER OAK, and the dual dates 1635 to 1935. In contrast to the detailed oak tree, the reverse features a highly stylized, modern eagle. The bird is depicted with folded wings, standing firmly on a block. Traditional mottos such as LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and E PLURIBUS UNUM are integrated into the design, making this mid-century coin a fascinating study in contrasting artistic styles.
