The 1935 Washington quarter from the Denver Mint stands as a classic example of United States silver coinage from the mid-1930s. Struck with a composition of 90 percent silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Its preservation in Brilliant Uncirculated condition allows modern observers to appreciate the crisp details of the original engraving just as it appeared when it left the Colorado facility. Created by sculptor John Flanagan, the coin's obverse displays a left-facing portrait of George Washington, the nation's first president. This bust is accompanied by the traditional national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," positioned to the left of the image, with the date 1935 inscribed below. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and perched upon an olive branch. The Denver origin is marked by the "D" mint mark located directly below the center of the olive branch, while the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" arches along the lower rim.
