In 1935, the Denver Mint produced this silver quarter, a piece that represents the early years of a classic American series. Struck in 90 percent silver with a total precious metal content of 0.1788 troy ounces, this coin is preserved in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that once circulated widely in daily commerce. The obverse presents the left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. Above his portrait, the word LIBERTY is inscribed, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST rests to his left, and the year 1935 is stamped below. This enduring portrait was created by sculptor John Flanagan. On the reverse, Flanagan composed a powerful heraldic scene. A majestic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows in its talons above two crossed olive branches, representing both strength and peace. The inscriptions on this side include the issuing authority, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, along with the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR. A small D mint mark below the olive branches indicates its origin at the Denver facility.
