In 1935, the San Francisco Mint struck this silver quarter, which survives today in Almost Uncirculated condition. Composed of 90 percent silver, this coin represents an early era of a design that has become a staple of American pocket change, carrying a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces. The obverse presents the left-facing profile of George Washington, a design created by John Flanagan. Positioned around the first president's portrait is the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," along with the date of production. On the reverse, a majestic heraldic eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the denomination, "QUARTER DOLLAR."
