1935-S Washington Quarter XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1935 Extra Fine

Introduced in the early 1930s, the Washington quarter has become one of the most recognizable coins in American history. This 1935 issue from the San Francisco Mint, graded in Extra Fine condition, showcases the enduring design of sculptor John Flanagan. Minted with a silver purity of 90 percent, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse presents a sharp, dignified profile of George Washington facing left. Above his portrait, the word LIBERTY is inscribed, while the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST sits to his left, and the year 1935 is stamped below. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing both strength and peace. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the eagle, with the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM placed just above its head. The small 'S' mint mark below the eagle indicates its origin at the San Francisco facility.
