In 1935, the United States Mint continued a design tradition that would become one of the most recognizable in American pocket change. This quarter dollar, struck in 90% fine silver, belongs to the early years of the Washington Quarter series. It contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal and represents a transitional era in mid-century American coinage. The obverse presents the left-facing profile of George Washington, a portrait sculpted by artist John Flanagan. Surrounding the first president's likeness are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1935 date. The design offers a dignified, classical representation that has endured for decades. On the reverse, a majestic heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch beneath its talons. The traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is positioned above the eagle, while the legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" frame the powerful central image. This particular specimen is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, showing only minor traces of wear from its brief time in circulation.
