1936 Washington Quarter MS-66 PCGS

In 1936, the Philadelphia Mint produced over 41 million quarters, struck in a silver composition that is 90 percent pure. Because these coins were minted in Philadelphia, they do not bear any mint mark. This particular specimen has survived in an exceptional state of preservation, earning a high grade of Mint State 66 (MS-66) for its outstanding preservation and crisp details. The obverse side of the coin features the familiar left-facing profile of George Washington. Surrounding his portrait are the classic inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the date of 1936. This design, created by John Flanagan, has become one of the most recognizable faces of American pocket change. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch beneath its talons. The traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is positioned just above the eagle, while the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the central design. This combination of patriotic symbols captures the artistic style of early twentieth-century American coinage.
