Struck at the Denver Mint in 1937, this silver quarter represents a classic era of United States circulating coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Very Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that once moved through the hands of everyday Americans during the late 1930s. The obverse of the coin presents a left-facing portrait of George Washington, the nation's first president. This profile, originally sculpted by artist John Flanagan, is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, positioned to the left of Washington's neck, with the date 1937 inscribed below his bust. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide. The eagle grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, which are nestled above a pair of olive branches, symbolizing both strength and peace. The Denver Mint's 'D' mint mark is located just below the center of the olive branches, identifying its origin at the Colorado facility.
