1937 Washington Quarter AU
The 1937 Washington quarter represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, this twenty five cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Almost Uncirculated condition, it retains much of its original luster and detail from the decade before the Second World War. John Flanagan designed the coin, creating a timeless obverse that features the left-facing profile of George Washington. Above his portrait, the word LIBERTY is inscribed, while the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST sits to the left of his neck, with the date 1937 positioned below. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. The eagle clutches a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM curve above the eagle, while the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR is boldly struck along the bottom rim.
