1937 Washington Quarter XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1937 Extra Fine

Struck during the pre-World War II era, this 1937 Washington Quarter represents an enduring chapter in United States coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, this twenty-five cent piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. Having circulated through commerce, this specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the distinct details of its historic artwork. The obverse of the coin displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This portrait, created by designer John Flanagan, is accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1937 year of issue. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the majestic bird, while the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is positioned just above the eagle's head.
