This iconic bust was created by sculptor John Flanagan. On the reverse, Flanagan composed a powerful heraldic scene. A stylized eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows in its talons above a pair of olive branches. This design is framed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR".
