0.1788 troy oz .900 1939 Almost Unc

In 1939, the Philadelphia Mint produced this silver quarter, which survives today in an impressive Almost Uncirculated condition. Struck from 90 percent pure silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a beautifully preserved specimen from the early years of this long-running United States series. The obverse displays the familiar left-facing portrait of George Washington, designed by sculptor John Flanagan. This side bears the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" alongside the 1939 year of issue. On the reverse, Flanagan's powerful design features a heraldic eagle with its wings outspread. The eagle clutches a bundle of arrows beneath its talons, symbolizing strength and readiness, while an olive branch rests below to represent peace. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" encircle the central motif.
