1939 Washington Quarter XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1939 Extra Fine

Struck in 1939, this United States quarter dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. This specimen survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the distinct details of its artwork from the late 1930s. The obverse of the coin presents a dignified profile of George Washington. Accompanying his portrait are the familiar inscriptions of IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 1939, rendered in the clean, bold lettering characteristic of the series. This design was originally created by artist John Flanagan. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide. The eagle grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above an olive branch to symbolize both strength and peace. The inscriptions on this side include the nation's name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the traditional motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM.
