In 1942, the Denver Mint produced a classic silver quarter that captures the spirit of mid-century American coinage. Struck with a silver purity of 90 percent, this twenty-five cent piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Kept in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original luster and crisp details just as it looked when it first left the coining press during a pivotal year in global history. The obverse presents a dignified left-facing profile of George Washington, the first president of the United States. This iconic portrait is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, positioned to the left of the bust, with the date of production, 1942, anchored at the bottom. The design was originally conceived by artist John Flanagan, whose work has defined the quarter denomination for generations. On the reverse, a magnificent heraldic eagle dominates the center of the coin. The eagle is depicted with outspread wings, clutching a bundle of arrows in its talons above a pair of olive branches, representing both strength and peace. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR frame the central design, while the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is positioned directly above the eagle's head.
