1943 Washington Quarter BU

0.1788 troy oz .900 1943 Brilliant Unc

During the height of the Second World War, the United States Mint continued to strike its circulating coinage in precious metal, including this 1943 quarter dollar. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original luster and sharp details just as it looked when it left the minting facility over eight decades ago. The obverse displays the classic left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This design, created by sculptor John Flanagan, features the familiar inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" positioned near the portrait's chin. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows in its talons above an olive branch. This side also features the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" along the lower rim. The contrasting symbols of strength and peace on the reverse make this wartime issue a compelling study in mid-twentieth-century American coinage design.
