During the height of the Second World War, the Philadelphia Mint produced nearly one hundred million quarters. This particular 1943 specimen has survived the decades in remarkable condition, earning a high grade of Mint State 65 (MS-65). Struck in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal and represents a fascinating moment in mid-twentieth-century American minting. The obverse features the familiar profile of George Washington, accompanied by the classic inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "1943". Because it was struck at the main minting facility in Philadelphia, this coin does not bear a mint mark. On the reverse, the design displays the eagle motif alongside the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" frame the central imagery, completing a design that remains a cornerstone of modern United States coinage.
