1944-D Washington Quarter AU
This silver quarter from 1944 represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck at the Denver Mint during the height of the mid-century period, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, it offers a remarkably clear look at a design that became a staple of American pockets. The obverse displays the left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This side features the word LIBERTY positioned above the portrait, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST placed to the left, and the year 1944 inscribed below. The design was originally created by artist John Flanagan, who captured a dignified and enduring likeness of Washington. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, gripping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch beneath its talons. The inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR, along with the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM nestled above the eagle.
